Pirate Party for Kids
Plan to make your boy (or girl) a happy pirate plundering on the high seas? This week we are focussing on putting together a pirate party.
We have realised that no matter how busy parents are, they will always make time to plan a party. Our advertisers have said thank you so many times for the traffic we send their way. We have decided to include a big shout out to the parents that make our advertisers happy – so, shout out to you!
Yo-ho -yo-ho I be a pirate now!
Sail the Seven Seas with a fun pirate party, lost treasure and of course… lots of loot to take home!
The colour scheme for a pirate party can be red and black or blue and black. Use these colours for balloons, streamers and any other decorations.
Transform your party are into a pirate's hide-out with pirate flags. Paint brown boxes to resemble wooden treasure chests, add gold plastic beads and treasure to make it look authentic. Scatter gold chocolate (or plastic) coins and plastic jewels. Don’t forget a piñata – filled with the spoils of the high seas.
Invites
Ahoy matey!
"X" marks the spot where you'll find a fun birthday party!
- Send the invitations at least 2 weeks before the party.
- Purchase pirate invitations or make your own.
- Create a treasure map to the venue.
- Visit www.kidspartyinvites.co.za to have an invite designed especially for your kid.
Games
Walk the Plank
Use a 2x4 board to make the plank. The children take turns walking across the board. When they get to the end they all get a chocolate coin or a small prize. Repeat as many times as they wish.
"X" Marks the Spot (Play like Pin the Tail on the Donkey)
Print a large treasure map before the party and a pirate flag (for each kid with their name on) to pin to the board. Mark the treasure on the map. During the game the pirate should be blindfolded and spinned around three times – let them plant their flag. Whoever is closest should be rewarded.
Food
You will have to feed the crew to ensure you don’t have a mutiny.
All pirates eat everything. They love yellow chips, sour worms, cookies wrapped in foil and most importantly – oranges (as we all know on the sea you need Vitamin C).
Now for the cake you really want to have an island with a few pirates and treasure to boot. If you don’t want to bake visit www.angelcupcakes.co.za to find someone who can.
